Matt, Miriam and Timothy

We’ve finally made it to the DTS base in Chiang Rai, we’ll get some pics up soon and let you see where we’re staying, the weather is really nice at the moment, jeans and T-shirt during the day and almost chilly at night, I guess it is supposed to be winter here.

The plane ride and travel we had to get here was all good, Singapore was beautiful and a lot of fun but we had some fun changing airports in Bangkok. Timothy was great on the plane rides and we’re starting to settle in to our new home with all of the new changes and different way things are done here.

Miss home a little already and the comforts that we had there, we’ll most likely buy Timothy a stack of toys in the next week or so,as we didn’t fit too many in our luggage. Matt wants to go around and fix everything and Miriam feels a little bit isolated with no transport to get anywhere, hence Matt will be getting his motor bike license very soon… vroom, vroom…

Tea last night cost us 25 Baht each, which is $1 AUD, enough to fill us both and a bottle of Pepsi will cost about 10 Baht or 45 cents Australian. Matt went to the supermarket the other day and it was a bit overwhelming not knowing what anything was, you can have a guess but you don’t really know if it’s washing liquid or Fabric softener as it is all written in Thai, oh well the clothes smell nice…

Just a quick update… We had a wonderful Christmas and Timothy learnt fairly quickly what a “Present” was, we went to Matt’s parents place on the River Murray the weekend before Christmas and had a very Zwarts Christmas, lots of Timothy’s cousins were there and his Aunty’s and Uncle’s too, we all had a really good time. 

We  thoroughly enjoyed Christams Day which we had at his Great Aunty’s place with all the Theel side of the Family. Timothy got a bit spoilt by his Great Uncle Bruce, note the massive Truck..

Miriam’s brother Rowan came over from Sydney and stayed with us over Christmas and after a long lunch we took Timothy and his Uncle down to the beach on Christmas evening. We’re enjoying the beach as much as we can as the ocean is a long way from Chiang Rai.
